alexparr.net is a personal website created by Alex Parr. The website functions as a hub for pretty much everything that Alex does; from games, to videos, to Microsoft Agent characters, and more. The website was created on November 23rd, 2020 using Neocities, with the alexparr.net domain being purchased on July 24th, 2024.

History

Alex Parr first created his website on November 23rd, 2020, using the free hosting service Neocities. While originally created as an experiment, within a year it became the home of much of his work; like his games Potato game. and POKEY+, a glossary of many of his YouTube videos, as well as links to his social pages and a blog run by his character Elax dubbed Elax's Corner.

2023 was when Alex's site saw the most additions and changes. On January 21st, a section was added to the website dedicated to his webcomic Circle and Pinhead. This page allows the user to read every comic in the current run of Circle and Pinhead. Then, on May 25th, the Art Gallery was added. This page includes much of Alex's art from early 2019 to the present day. On July 5th, a section dedicated entirely to Alex's Microsoft Agent creations was finally added. This section of the site contains nearly every Microsoft Agent character that Alex has created, and is where they continue to be hosted to this day; from the very first, to the very latest; replacing other services like Dropbox that Alex had used previously. On top of this, the Elax's Corner section was removed as it was not being updated very often anyways.

On July 24th, 2024, Alex purchased the alexparr.net domain from Namecheap. It was soon connected to his webhost (neocities.org) and became the main domain for the site going forward. Later, on September 28th, Alex created the [email protected] email address, which continues to be used as his main address for any questions, concerns or general letters. Then, on October 1st, Elax's Corner returned as a limited-time page during a monthly site takeover, now including a section where Elax can receive and respond to his own fanmail. This continues as an October tradition on Alex's site to this day.

Neocities continued to be Alex's webhost until November 14th, 2024, when Alex moved to Nekoweb. This allowed Alex to start self-hosting everything on the site itself, including many of his downloadable games like Potato game. and B!T (which other services, like Google Drive, would continuously take down due to false positives). Despite the change in webhosts, the domain continues to be alexparr.net.

Pages

Primary pages

Home (Index)

The home/index page is the default page on the site. It provides links to every other page on the site, as well as some additional buttons.

  • The top row is for the big sections, such as games, videos, Microsoft Agent characters, etc.
  • The middle row is for any smaller, additional subpages.
  • The bottom row contains links to all of Alex's current social platforms, (YouTube, BlueSky, Discord, etc.) along with a link to his guestbook and a button to follow him on Nekoweb (if applicable.)

Games

The games page lists all of Alex's games. Each game has their own subpage. Depending on the game, some may require the user to download them, others can be played on the browser; and for some, the user can even do both.

Videos

The videos page contains links to many of Alex's YouTube videos, grouped by series and sorted by release date. On top of Microsoft Agent content, they can also link to 3DMM shorts, Alex's Odd Life episodes, and other miscellaneous videos.

Circle and Pinhead

The Circle and Pinhead page contains every comic from Alex's Circle and Pinhead comic, which runs from 2023 onwards. It also includes all of the Circle and Pinhead Toons mixed in with the comics.

The art gallery page contains a large selection of Alex's artwork, spanning from 2019 onwards. It also contains a Characters page which gives insight into many of Alex's current characters.

Microsoft Agent

The Microsoft Agent page contains almost every character that Alex has developed. Some characters (such as Alex or Ava) lead to subpages that, on top of the latest version, also contain downloads to many previous versions of each character. Other characters are grouped together (such as the Voiced Office Assistants) and are packaged in a ZIP file.

Secondary pages

Extras

Extras is a sub-page containing everything that would not fit in the other sections of the website, including miscellaneous projects, other sites that Alex runs, and links to other websites entirely (CosmicToons, Nekoweb Districts, etc.)

About Me

About Me is a sub-page that talks about Alex Parr himself.

Others

  • Newest takes the user to the latest thing that Alex has made up to that point.
  • Random takes the user to a completely random page on the site.
  • Email is a mailto link, pointing to the address [email protected].
  • Ko-fi links to Alex's Ko-fi page.

Trivia

  • When the site is browsed without JavaScript, many pages will not work and/or will display humorous messages.
    • The front page's flavor text will read "Javascript? What's that?" instead of displaying a random message.
    • Circle and Pinhead's page will not work, urging the user to enable JavaScript in order to use the comic viewer.
    • The random button will show Clippy seeming very confused about the page not working.
  • All games were previously hosted using many other hosting platforms, due to filesize limitations with Neocities.
    • Google Drive was initially used, however, it started taking down Alex's games by mid-2022 for being infected with viruses; when really, they were just false positives.
    • Alex later switched to using Anonfiles in 2022 for improved compatibility with older browsers, and also because it did not mark his files as potentially infected (for better or worse).
    • After Anonfiles was shut down, Alex switched to Dropbox; though it, too, began marking Alex's games as false positives and preventing them from being downloaded.
    • When Alex moved his site to Nekoweb, he was finally able to start hosting his downloads on the site itself; which is where they remain to this day.
  • Older versions of Alex's website can be found in some of his videos; particularly, Alex as an MS Agent - The Internet! (which shows an old landing page) and 900 Subscriber Question & Answer Video (which shows the site in one of its oldest forms, from January 9th, 2021).
  • The alexparr.net domain was previously parked by GoDaddy sometime in-between 2011-2016.
    • This is only an estimate; on the Wayback Machine, any history before 2011 does not exist, and the first snapshot after 2016 came after Alex bought the domain.
  • There exist many secret pages and oddities all over the website, usually accessible via invisible secret buttons.
    • One secret, which was later removed, was the "Ava" subpage. Typing this into the address bar would have sent the user to the 404 page, but with a pink background. This was removed after A Valued Acquaintance - Alex as an MS Agent premiered on YouTube.
