AgentPatch (formerly known as MSAgent Fix for Windows 11) is a patch developed by Alex Parr[1] that fixes the Microsoft Agent server application, allowing all Microsoft Agent-based applications to work correctly on systems running more modern versions of Windows. It was released in July 29th, 2024 as a new "it just works" patch for modern Windows users.

Usage

The patch allows Microsoft Agent to run correctly on modern versions of Windows, removing the background of Microsoft Agent characters and their speech bubble that would otherwise be visible. Unlike Double Agent, this software is not a rewrite of Microsoft Agent; instead, the patch works by forcing the Microsoft Agent server application to run under a hidden Windows NT 4.0 compatibility mode.

Trivia

  • The AgentPatch page was stylized after the main window of MASH.
  • Originally, users had to manually set the compatibility mode for Microsoft Agent to Windows 98/ME before the installer for the program was released.
    • On recent versions of Windows 11, Microsoft Agent fails to initialize under Windows 98/ME compatibility mode.
