NetSage Reversi is a reversi video game developed by NetSage Corporation in 1999 that utilizes Microsoft Agent technology, featuring the Microsoft Office Assistant character Earl as the mascot.[1]
Gameplay
The gameplay features a standard 8x8 reversi board, with the user's goal being to beat Earl at the game of reversi. The board starts off with two red pieces (the player) and two black pieces (Earl), with Earl providing dialog throughout the game.
Earl and the player then take turns placing one piece on an empty square with their assigned color. When all playable empty squares are filled, the game checks if Earl or the player has the most reversi pieces, and whichever has the most is declared the winner.

Trivia
- This is the earliest known attempt at utilizing Microsoft Agent characters in video games.
- Despite being released in 1999, it uses a Microsoft Agent 1.5 character despite Microsoft Agent 2.0 being released in 1998.
- It is one of the few Visual Basic-coded Microsoft Agent programs to be programmed in Visual Basic 4.0, with the majority of Visual Basic-coded Microsoft Agent software instead utilizing Visual Basic 6.0.
- As a result of this, the program has some difficulty running on modern Windows releases.
