Links is a Microsoft Agent character developed by Microsoft Corporation. Links first came with Microsoft Office 2000. She was part of the Office Assistant feature of Microsoft Office, which allowed for an animated character to assist the user or answer questions. Her appearance is an orange cat.

Use in Microsoft Office

Links was introduced in Microsoft Office 2000. As with other Office Assistants, she appeared whenever the program determined the user could be assisted. For example, typing an address followed by "Dear" would cause the Assistant to appear with the message, "It looks like you're writing a letter. Would you like help?"

Trivia

  • Links may have been introduced in Microsoft Office 2000 as a replacement to Scribble, an origami-esque cat assistant that was present in Microsoft Office 97.
  • Unlike Rocky or F1, only her predecessor was featured in Office 98, and there are no instances of Links being present as a Microsoft Actor.
  • Interestingly, Links' dog counterpart, Rocky, has his ACS file named as "ROCKY.ACS" rather than "OFFDOG.ACS".
