BlobBuddy, also capitalized as BlobBUDDY, is a freeware desktop application that utilizes Microsoft Agent technology developed in 2023. It was created by Konnor88 and released on TMAFE.COM on June 9th, 2023.[1] It was created to serve as a malware-free alternative to BonziBUDDY. However, unlike Bonzi, the Blob character has a more aggressive personality. Instead of telling actual facts and jokes, the Blob insults and laughs at the user instead, a stark contrast from Bonzi's more friendly nature.

Community impact

The release of BlobBUDDY was considered a major success by many in the community, as it had been responsible for not only re-sparking more interest in Microsoft Agent, but also the development of more Microsoft Agent software. The success of BlobBUDDY influenced the development of MaxALERT Rewritten, a re-imagination of MaxALERT which uses BlobBUDDY as a base.

In 2025, a YouTube content creator CryptoNWO would publish a video titled "Desktop Pets Tier List 2", which included the BlobBUDDY program, which led to an increase of its popularity.[2] The latest release of BlobBUDDY, 2.0 Beta Build 602 was made available for testing in the Support server on July 28th, 2025.

An open source installer was developed for BlobBUDDY and released in November 2025 as a result of artificial intelligence algorithms of anti-virus vendors falsely flagging the previous installers for being built in Clickteam Install Creator.

Trivia

  • Ironically, BonziBUDDY, despite being more friendly, had malware bundled in it while BlobBUDDY, despite being more aggressive and rude, has no malware in it.
  • Blob's behavior in the software was inspired by both Sebastian's "Blob Channel" series on YouTube and Konnor88's "Microsoft Agent Desktop Skits".
    • Despite the inspiration from Sebastian's Blob series, a lot of the inappropriate jokes and swears are left out of the software.
  • The success of the BlobBUDDY program led to the recreation of the MaxALERT program by Bonzi Software called MaxALERT Rewritten.
  • Most of the songs found in Stable Beta 1 were ported from the BonziBUDDY Rewritten program.
