The Microsoft Agent Web Supporter (MAWS) is a freeware software developed by MadCreeper7611. It allows for Microsoft Agent characters to show on modern web browsers like how they did on Internet Explorer using a custom URL protocol.

Usage

As its non-abbreviated name suggests, MAWS allows for MASH scripts to be ran on modern web browsers. It uses the custom URL protocol "msagentweb://" to run scripts like how Steam uses "steam://" to launch games and perform actions through the website.[1] If it ran without command-line arguments, MAWS will load a popup window which allows users to enter a URL to a MASH script to run it.

MAWS also allows for more functions, such as allowing characters to appear in between the edge side and center of the screen, saying the current holiday, and running scripts if a user does not have a character currently installed on their system.

Trivia

  • In the first versions of MAWS, it lacked support for right-click menu scripts.
  • Despite being created with modern operating systems in mind, it also works surprisingly well on Windows 98, 2000, ME, and XP due to it being created with Visual Studio 2008.
  • Originally, MAWS was meant to create and edit scripts in its own scripting format, but the functionality was soon changed for it to instead run MASH scripts files through the internet.
    • This led to MAWS originally standing for the Microsoft Agent Web Scripter, but after the functionality change, it was renamed to the Microsoft Agent Web Support, which it would then be renamed to its final name, the Microsoft Agent Web Supporter.
  • MAWS was one of the first non-BonziBUDDY related software to be developed by MadCreeper and released to TMAFE.
    • MAWS was also one of the first fully free and open source software released by MadCreeper.
